About the Exhibit
Bottle caps, police tape, and motorcycle parts are just a few of the discarded materials transformed into works of art and featured in the ReWorks exhibit. Artwork includes imaginative sculpture, jewelry, collages, furniture, and other multi-media expressions by 25 local artists.

Discovering Common Ground 



Sept 2004-Nov. 2004

Immigrants from near and far have found a home in
Minnesota. Discovering Common Ground brings new
perspectives from many different cultures with fresh images
and insights from around the world.
This exhibition features the works of individual artists who
are immigrants to Minnesota. It celebrates the richness of the
cultures and experiences they bring with them as well as
the challenges of leaving loved ones and native countries and
establishing a new life.

Many of the exhibiting artists unite traditional symbols with modern
techniques and aesthetics to powerful effect. Others engage the
viewer through striking color, texture, and expression. Together this
exclusive exhibit – of photography, paintings, pen, pencil, and
cloth – portrays landscapes, traditions, personalities, and multiple
points of view. Thanks to Ancient Traders Gallery, Bockley Gallery,
Two Rivers Gallery and the following artists:
