The Minneapolis Foundation Future Exhibition
150 Years of Immigration in Minnesota: Call for Artists
For more than a century, Immigrants from all over the world have made the journey to Minnesota to make this state their home. Over the past several decades alone, tens of thousands of immigrants have arrived in Minnesota. Although the demographics have changed over the years, these immigrants have come to this state for the same reason that attracted immigrants in the past: opportunity. People from around the world will continue to immigrate to Minnesota, and each person and family will have their own unique story to tell.
The Minneapolis Foundation invites artists to submit work for its upcoming Immigration in Minnesota exhibit. The exhibition will highlight the immigration experience to Minnesota – both historical and current – through photographs and a variety of visual mediums. We encourage submissions from artists of all generations and backgrounds. We would like submissions from non-professional artist as well as profession artists. Our goal is to represent the immigration experience from multiple populations who now make up our state’s culturally diverse landscape.
This exhibit will be on view at The Minneapolis Foundation office from May 1 to August 31, 2008 and will be a part of the State of Minnesota’s Sesquicentennial recognition.
