MUSEUM SERVICES
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will my artwork be insured when getting shipped or stored by Museum Services?
Yes, the works will be insured with our liability insurance required for shipping and transportation. The liability insurance is based on the actual weight of the object at $0.60 per pound. This may sound too low, but this is standard for transportation and storage services.
Does Museum Services offer other insurance besides liability for my goods?
Yes, we do offer insurance covering the full value of the object, but that would need to be purchased through us. Many customers purchase their own “wall to wall” coverage. This is especially a good idea for clients who regularly ship or store artwork. “Wall to wall” insurance covers the artwork at all times. Insurance through us only covers the works while in the care, custody and control of Museum Services
What does Museum Services insurance cover?
The insurance we offer covers all risks except for normal wear and tear, gradual corrosion, moth, insect, vermin, inherent vice or acts of nature. The objects would need to first be inspected by a Museum Services staff to ensure they are properly packed.
Do you appraise artwork?
No, but we can refer you to specialized appraisers in your area.
How much is this going to cost?
All costs are based on individual needs and specifics about the artwork.
Is the Children's Museum open today?
We do not know, please call them. We do not keep a list of the opening hours of Museums.
