The exact sequence of events in the formation of the canyon is not well understood, but the Yellowstone River is the force that carves out the canyon and the falls today. Standing at one of the lookout points, I felt like my eyes were playing tricks on me.
The view of the canyon made my eyes water, and I felt like I could reach my arm out to touch a backdrop screen for some movie.
The sound of the falls can be heard miles away. There are many lookout points along the canyon, and two of them, for obvious reasons, are called “Inspiration Point” and “Artist’s Point”.
